IN THE FEAR OF THE LORD, in that we have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light, and in humble dependence upon the Holy Spirit, we do covenant together that we are committed:
To the Word of God as the final authority in our lives. We will search the Scriptures to know God and His will and apply what we learn so that we may live worthy of Him Who has called us unto His own kingdom and glory.
To living in the daily awareness that “the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” and that “each of us will give account of himself to God.” We will watch for, wait upon, and depend on our Father’s help daily.
To Jesus Christ as our Sovereign Lord. In all things He is to have the preeminence so that whatever we do in word or deed, we do in the name of the Lord Jesus. As we received Him, we will search “to walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith,” abounding with thanksgiving to God the Father through Him.
To the Holy Spirit as our Divine Helper. He indwells, comforts, guides, and empowers with an eye toward transforming us into the likeness of Christ Jesus with ever-increasing glory. We, therefore, will be sensitive to the Spirit’s promptings and guard against attitudes and actions that grieve Him. We will walk in the Spirit so that our fruit is “in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.” And we will earnestly seek for the Spirit to work through us to the glory of God.
To the church as the habitation of God through the Spirit. We are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another, joined and knitted together by the Spirit to care for one another. We will, therefore, have fervent love for one another, watch over one another in kindness, and bear one another’s burdens. We will forbear with one another and forgive one another, even as Christ forgave us. We will abstain from foolish talking and jesting, from backbiting and quarrelling, and from rendering evil for evil. Furthermore, we will honor those who are over us in the Lord and give heed to their counsel. We will be faithful to the worship, fellowship, outreach, ordinances, and doctrines of the church. We will support the church with our prayers, tithes, and offerings. We will also serve one another with the gifts God has given us. We will strive by the grace of God to do our part in building up the church in love.
To God’s ordained structure of the family. We acknowledge that the husband is the head of the home, that parents are to bring up their children in the training and admonition of the Lord, and that children are to obey and honor their parents. We will follow the Scriptural commands in maintaining the sanctity of marriage and pattern our homes after the divine order.
To the world as our object of loving concern. We will respect and pray for our leaders and obey the laws of the land except only in those things opposed to the will of God. We will aspire to live a quiet life, mind our own business, work with our own hands, let no debt remain outstanding, and be ready to do whatever is good. We will honor the sacredness of life, give to those in need, and help correct social injustices. We will seek to have a positive influence of faith, to win others to Christ, and to share in fulfilling the Great Commission.
To serving God in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life. We will abstain from all appearance of evil and from fleshly lusts that war against the soul. We will hate what is evil and cling to what is good. We will keep ourselves from the love of money and be content with what we have. We will abide in Christ, follow His steps, and live for the will of God.
As a result of this covenant, WE SEEK TO BUILD A CHURCH WORTHY OF HIS NAME. We desire to be a spiritual oasis for those who are weary of sin and thirsty for the righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ the Lord.
